I have been working with Sue for over 10 years, when K9 Crusaders was just a small concern, rehoming dogs through a network of foster homes and paid boarding kennel places. I began my work with animals in a pet shop, selling livestock and advising on the correct products for wayward hounds and crazy cats. I always felt that there was more that I could do to help, so when the business was being sold I left and studied animal behaviour, gaining my Diploma in Companion Behaviour and Therapy (DipCABT) in 2004. Almost immediately I started my own consultancy and also started working with Sue, firstly as a behaviourist and shortly after doing anything that was needed, from poster making, fundraising, transporting, assessing, homechecking etc etc. I was delighted when we got the legacy, from one of my behaviour clients, who very sadly passed away but left us with enough money to move into Hollybush Farm. Now, I have been elected as Chairperson of K9 Crusaders, something of which I am very proud and continue to work in any way needed to keep the Charity running smoothly. I created and run the website and Admin the Facebook groups and pages; they all call me the “techy geek” of the Crew. I also love to do crafty things to sell in the shop, and at fayres, use Photoshop to create posters and flyers, take photos of the dogs, and work in the shop three days a week. My dog Zack was from K9 Crusaders, a very traumatised little fella who we didn’t think would be able to be rehabbed but he became the sweetest guy around, which just proves that the K9 Crew attitude of the 3 Rs (Rescue, Rehabilitation and Rehoming) is the only way to go! Zack has crossed Rainbow Bridge now but I have adopted Molly, a 12 year old Collie x Staffie who helps me by volunteering in our charity shop and acting as official greeter and is quickly gaining her own fan club. I love the K9 Crew family and wouldn’t want to volunteer anywhere else.
